The Real Math

Why it pays for itself.

Auditioning for college theatre programs is expensive when you do it school by school. We bring the colleges to you, so one registration replaces a season of plane tickets, hotels, and application fees. Here is what that actually looks like on paper.

Auditioning in person, school by school

The cost of one college audition.

Round trip airfare (student + 1 parent)$500 to $900
Hotel, one to two nights$180 to $360
Meals for two$120 to $200
Ground transport, parking, rideshare$80 to $150
Application and audition fee$50 to $100
Per school, on average~$1,200

Most students audition for 8 to 12 programs. Auditioning at just 10 schools in person can run more than $12,000 for the season.

DC Unifieds, all in one place

One registration. Every program.

  • Up to 40 college programs in one location over four days
  • Multiple audition rooms, callbacks, and faculty workshops
  • No flights, no hotels, no travel days for each school
  • Installment options and tuition insurance available
In person registration$999

Current rate through July 1 (regularly $1,299). That is a fraction of the cost of traveling the country, and you walk in front of every program at once.

Register now
$2,000–$4,000

Plus, your fee waivers can cover the whole thing.

Every student at DC Unifieds receives a free application and audition fee waiver from each attending college. With 40 colleges expected this year and each waiver valued at $50 to $100, that is $2,000 to $4,000 in waived fees alone, which is more than the cost of registration itself.

// Travel estimates based on a typical out of state audition trip for two. Fee waiver totals based on 40 attending colleges at $50 to $100 per waiver. Actual savings vary by student.

FAQ

Got questions?

The most common ones from students and parents. Still have one? Reach out.

DC Unifieds is designed for a wide range of students, not just those already performing at a pre-professional level. Colleges are looking for potential, growth, and authenticity just as much as polish. This experience is just as valuable for developing artists as it is for highly trained performers.
It happens more often than you think, and colleges expect it. Faculty aren't looking for perfection — they're looking for how students respond and stay present. How a student recovers often leaves a stronger impression than a flawless performance.
Registration includes a structured multi-day audition experience with direct access to college faculty. Students get multiple audition opportunities, college-led workshops, and visibility beyond a single room.
DC Unifieds is intentionally more personal, structured, and supportive. Students have direct interaction with faculty, access to workshops throughout the event, and guided support from Artist Ambassadors.
Yes — colleges use this event as part of their official recruitment process. Some programs offer callbacks, prescreen passes, or continued communication after the event.
The experience is structured and professional, but intentionally supportive. Students are guided through each step, reducing uncertainty and stress.
Yes. Students are seen not only in their primary audition but also through workshops, callbacks, and faculty interactions — giving colleges a complete view beyond a single performance.
Parents aren't in the audition room, but play a vital support role. There are designated parent spaces and optional sessions. The main job: encouragement.
No program can guarantee acceptance. But DC Unifieds provides direct access, increased visibility, and meaningful interaction with programs — all of which significantly support the audition process.
No family leaves empty-handed. Every student receives written feedback, and we build a personalized plan of programs still holding auditions or with rolling deadlines, plus BFA, BA, and transfer pathways. With your permission, we make warm introductions to programs that are a strong fit, and our coaching team stays available year-round — including help re-auditioning next cycle. We can't promise a "yes," but we don't stop advocating for your student.
In Your Corner

We don't stop when the music does.

DC Unifieds is built to advocate for families — not just for the four days in the room, but for the whole journey home and beyond.

An audition season is one of the most stressful, expensive things a family takes on. So we made a promise: every student leaves with feedback, a real plan, and a team that keeps working for them — whatever the outcome.

Students and families together at a DC Unifieds event For every family
1

Honest feedback, in writing

Every student leaves with written notes from the faculty and professionals who saw them — what landed, what to build next, and an honest read on where they stand.

2

A real map forward

We build each family a personalized shortlist: programs still holding auditions, rolling deadlines, and best-fit matches — including BFA, BA, and transfer pathways.

3

Warm introductions

With your permission, we share your student's materials and our notes directly with college programs that still have openings and are a genuine fit.

4

Year-round mentorship

Our Artist Ambassadors and coaching team stay in your corner long after check-out — including guidance on re-auditioning and a stronger run next cycle.

If this year's answer is "not yet."

Here's the truth we tell every family: no one can promise a "yes." What we can promise is that we will not stop working for your student. If a program isn't the right match this round, you don't walk away empty-handed — you walk away with feedback, introductions, a plan, and a standing invitation to come back. We keep advocating until you find your stage.
